Chammanthi Podi


INGREDIENTS



Grated Coconut: 1 no.

Small Onion: 20no.s

Dried Red Chilli: 30-40no.s

Ginger: 1pc

Garlic: 2cloves

Tamarind: about the size of lemon

Pepper: 1/2tsp

Asafoetida: 1tsp

Curry Leaves

Salt: As needed

Coriander seeds: 1tsp


STEPS


Heat a heavy bottomed pan and add grated coconut, chopped ginger, garlic, small onions, red chillies, black pepper and coriander seeds.



Saute until the coconut starts to turn golden. Stir continuously and add salt. Lower the flame and then add asafoetida. Mix well and add tamarind. Saute until golden brown.



Remove from heat and let it cool. After its cooled enough transfer it to a grinder jar and powder coarsely.



Transfer to a clean container and store it in a cool and dry place. Use a dry spoon to serve. Enjoy it with rice and curd.
