SEMIYA PAYASAM (VERMICELLI KHEER)
Ingredients
Vermicelli (സേമിയാ) 1cup
Ghee (നെയ്യ് )
Milk (പാൽ) 1 Ltr
Sugar (പഞ്ചസാര) 1 cup
Water ( വെളളം)
Cardamom powder (ഏലക്ക പൊടി) 1/2 tsp
For garnish
Cashewnuts (കശുവണ്ടി)
Raisins ( ഉണക്ക മുന്തിരി)
Add a little ghee in a thick-bottomed pan and fry cashews and raisins till golden brown in colour. Set this aside. Add little more ghee and roast the vermicelli to light golden brown. Add milk to this and add some water . When this starts to boil add sugar and keep stirring and cook on a medium heat to avoid lumps being formed. Cook the vermicelli uncovered.
When it cooks add cardamom powder and mix well. Turn of the stove and add the cashews and raisins. .
Payasam is ready..Serve warm or chilled.
