Kumbilappam


Ingredients :


Ripe jackfruit 20  bulbs (പഴുത്ത ചക്കച്ചുള)

Roasted Rice flour 500 gm (വറുത്ത അരിപ്പൊടി)

Grated coconut 1cup (തെങ്ങാപ്പീര)

Cardamom powder 1 tsp(ഏലയ്ക്ക പൊടി)

Cumin powder 1tsp (ജീരകപ്പൊടി)

Salt to taste (ഉപ്പ്)

Jaggery 250 gm (ശർക്കര)

Bay Leaves : as required (വഴന ഇല)

Boiled water as required (തിളച്ച വെള്ളം)

Method of Preparation :

Add the chopped jackfruit in a blender and make a smooth paste without adding water.
One or two jackfruit bulb should chop into small pieces. Boil the water.
Mix rice flour, salt, cumin powder, cardamom powder and grated coconut in a bowl.
Add jackfruit paste, jackfruit pieces along with jaggery and mix well.
Add enough boiled water and mix it to a smooth dough.


Take the Bay leaves and make cones with it.
Fill the cone with the dough and bend the top of the leaves and press inside to cover the top.
Steam for about 30  minutes or till its done. Remove from steam and cool.
